Library Resources and Services for Faculty

Services and information relating to faculty experience of the library and its resources

Faculty and the Brown University Library

Need help with citations?

The library intends to support faculty in all areas of their academic and professional life. Along with our resources and holdings, library staff offer training in various software packages, work with students, and assist in all areas of research from grant finding to publishing. We welcome all inquiries and look forward to working with all members of the Brown community.

Subject Librarians:

Your subject librarian provides services and develops library collections in your research area and is available for research consultations regarding our resources. They can create subject guides or course guides to supplement your teaching.

Center for Digital Scholarship:

The library's Center for Digital Scholarship works collaboratively with faculty on all aspects of managing digital projects from blogs and epublishing to data analysis and visualization. This includes assistance with the Brown Digital Repository.

Circulation Department:

While Brown has many strong collections there are areas where we take advantage of partnerships with other libraries. Some special privileges for faculty include:

  • E-delivery of journal articles from Brown's print and other collections to your desktop within 48 hours [requested through ILLiad (Interlibrary Loan)]
  • Delivery of library books to your department mail room or administrative office via Campus Mail, Monday through Friday, during regular office hours.
  • Deputy borrowing: Designate someone to pick up materials on your behalf.
