Palestinian Studies

Since its founding UNRWA has produced and collected an audiovisual archive, covering all aspects of the lives and history of Palestine refugees. This archive consists of more than 430,000 negatives, 10,000 prints, 85,000 slides, 75 films and 730 videocassettes. In 2009 the UNRWA Archive was inscribed by UNESCO in the Memory of The World list, recognizing its historical value.

1917-1970; this database offers the widest range of original source material from the British Foreign Office, Colonial Office, War Office and Cabinet Papers from the 1917 Balfour Declaration through to the Black September war of 1970-71. Here major policy statements are set out in their fullest context, the minor documents and marginalia revealing the workings of colonial administration and, following the creation of the State of Israel in 1948, British diplomacy towards Israel and the Arab states.

An archive of oral histories of the Nakba, the creation of the Palestinian refugee diaspora displaced during the foundation of the state of Israel in 1948.

As institutional members Brown patrons can request the materials from the Center for Research Libraries. The holdings include many journals, newspapers and other materials from or about Palestine.
