About This Guide

This guide reviews tools for finding and evaluating publication-based research impact, as well as contextual information for using and understanding bibliometric indicators. 

You'll also find options for getting support from the library, ranging from consultations to custom reports.

Research Impact Services

Our mission is to communicate and promote the university’s research by providing transparent, ethical, and contextualized analysis. We partner with researchers, centers, and departments to demonstrate publication impact, identify and show research collaborations, and guide data-informed decisions. Our offerings include:

Publication Lists

  • All publications authored by an individual, research group, center, or grant, in your preferred format. 
  • Search can span several databases to ensure comprehensive coverage. 

Research Impact Analysis

  • Data and visualization (where applicable) to highlight research strengths and opportunities. 
  • Data sourced from Clarivate InCites.

Collaboration Network Analysis

  • Data visualization to identify collaborative relationships through the proxy of article co-authorships. This might focus specifically on the collaborations within a group, or specific groups, or can be applied more broadly to see external institutional collaborations.

Education & Training

  • Review of available tools and methods for retrieving impact metrics.
  • Help with streamlining workflows and processes for database searches to retrieve publications.
  • Overview of scholarly profile systems like ORCiD and MyBibliography.
