Course Reserves (OCRA):undefined You do not need to complete the list of items to initiate the process. 

Course-Specific Resource Guides:undefined Request a curated subset of online resources that support your learning goals. This content can quickly be added as a resource in Canvas. General subject guidesundefined  are also available.  

Primary Sources and Special Collections:undefinedThe Library can digitize special collections materials from the John Hay Library for distance learning.

Inclusive Teaching:undefined Librarians can work with you to identify multimodal and varied sources to help all students develop their information literacy, paying particular attention to the ways in which the work supports diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning experiences. We can help identify online resources including hard to find materials and visual and audio content that supports course goals.

  • Core Research Skills Tutorials:undefined Add tutorials from our growing collection. 
  • Disciplinary Focus:undefined Contact a subject librarian to request recorded instructions, worksheets, and other materials.
  • STEM:undefined We offer recorded instruction modules and resources for online labs, tools for remote collaboration.
  • Designing Digital Projects:undefined Incorporate ready-to-use guides on creating digital projects into your course on topics like how to gather datasets from the web, manage and store data, archive code and websites, find patterns in texts through text mining, and create public digital projects on the web using a variety of resources.
  • Primary Sources and Special Collections:undefined Incorporate an activity or assignment that helps students explore and engage with primary sources.

Synchronous:

  • Core Research Skills with a Disciplinary Focus:undefined Request interactive, live online instruction on topics like developing strong research questions, literature searching, organizing the research process, locating and documenting sources, citation and avoiding plagiarism.
  • STEM:undefined Reach out to sciences librarians for workshops, live sessions, expert services and supplemental research support for students.
  • Designing Digital Projects:undefined Consult with our specialists to design and integrate a tailored digital project into your course and request live workshops.
  • Primary Sources and Special Collections:undefined Design a live session with interactive activities, worksheets, writing prompts, or other resources tailored to your course goals that help students explore and engage with primary sources.

Add Library Content to Canvas with LibApps Tools

The LibApps External Tool in Canvas allows an instructor to provide access to library resources, instruction, and consultation directly in Canvas. This tool can simplify access to library resources by eliminating extra steps for students.

  1. Identify the Library content
  2. Select the module in Canvas
  3. Add Item
  4. Select External Tool then click on LibApps Library Content
  5. Select the LibGuides site: libguides.brown.edu
  6. Select Content Type
  7. Find the Guide to add
  8. Pick the Guide Page, usually the first page
  9. Click Embed Content then Add Item
