Geospatial Python Tutorials

These tutorials consist of Python notebooks and scripts for doing geospatial analysis. While Basic GeoPandas was written as a tutorial, the other modules are illustrative examples that were created for specific projects.

Basic GeoPandas Examples
A short introduction that includes loading shapefiles into geodataframes, creating geometry from coordinates, CRS transformation, generating lines from points, spatial joins, and generating plots.
Plot Routes with Open Routing Services
Use the ORS API, take a set of coordinate-based origins and destinations in a CSV and plot shortest or fastest driving routes with distances. Save output as shapefiles, and generate a web map with Folium.
Raster Temperature and Point Observation Overlay
Generate a bounding box from features and use it to clip rasters. Overlay point features onto a raster and obtain temperature from that point for a specific date. Written for batch processing, uses Geopandas, Ratserio, Shapely, and weather data from PRISM.
