BruKnow: The Brown Library Catalog

This guide will give you an introduction to BruKnow and answer some common questions about the system.

Searching for Articles

The first thing you should try is to paste or type your article title into the main search box. If we have the article in an online journal, the record will turn up in your search.

BruKnow Text: Article search

If no results appear and you know the journal title, go to the journal link at the top of the page and determine if we subscribe, what format we have, and what years are included. Click on the arrow next to the call number to get information about what specific issues we have.

BruKnow Text: Print Journal Availability

You'll then see information about the years that we have in our collection, first described in full, then as individual volumes (note: not all volumes are visible in this screenshot!)

BruKnow Text: Print Journal Holdings Information.

The record for an online journal will also list the years that we have:

BruKnow Text: Online Journal Holdings

You can search an online journal right from the BruKnow record!
