Python is an open source, general purpose scripting and programming language with good support for statistical analysis and data visualization.
R is open source statistical analysis and visualization software.
Stata is commercial statistical analysis and visualization software. Brown students, faculty, and staff can download a licensed copy from the Brown Software Catalog, or run it remotely via MyApps at Brown.
