1891-1973, some missing issues. A Spanish weekly art and literary magazine and later, the companion of the daily ABC. It used color print, paper couché and advanced image printing techniques such as photoengraving and photogravure for the first time in Spain.

A weekly cultural and political magazine published from 1946 to 1982 in Madrid. It focused on general politics, social studies and economics from 1945 to about 1967. In the mid-1960s, however, it shifted to a more literary content.

Valencia, 1929-1936, lacking various issues. Monthly magazine. It was very successful before the Spanish Civil War for its naturist and avant-garde covers and its content, focusing on public health, social policy, revolution, artistic and scientific movements. The Catholic Church was against this magazine given its position on abortion and sex, among other ethical considerations.

Barcelona, 1935-1937. Many issues missing. A Second Republic nudist magazine edited by anarchist and naturalist Joan Sanxo i Farrerons under the pseudonym Laura Brunet. Editorials and essays in Biofilia draw explicit links between Republican revolutionary ideology and nudism, including worker’s rights, anticapitalism and antifascism, and cultural freedom.

Madrid, 1930s. Missing many issues. Spanish far right and monarchical publication for “all Christian and patriotic women.”

Burgos/Madrid. Some issues from 1937 and 1938. Bulletin from a fascist political party founded in Spain in 1934 as merger of the Falange Española and the Juntas de Ofensiva Nacional-Sindicalista.

Madrid, 1951-1985. Monthly, many issues missing. Magazine for fans of the Real Madrid soccer team.

A seminal publication from the Movida period with contributions from the most important countercultural Spanish artists, musicians, writers and filmmakers from the period. Published in Madrid from 1983 to 1988.

A monthly magazine created, designed and directed by Oscar Mariné. It had a zine and photojournalistic approach. Often consulted for its graphic design. A total of sixteen issues were published between 1984 and 1985.

A publication where a group of artists and photographers congregated under the gaze of Alberto García-Alix in a sort of laboratory of ideas and visual poetry emulating the style of the Andy Warhol's Factory. It consists of 10 issues published in Madrid in 1987-1997.

A satirical magazine published in Madrid in 1972-1976 and considered a precursor to other publications during the Movida period. This publication was very critical of the Franco regime and emulated the style of the French weekly Charlie Hebdo.

A satirical weekly magazine published in Barcelona in 1973-1987. Each issue focused on a topic including women's rights, pollution, cars, immigration, film censorship and advertising. Its flagship section was the Papunovela, a photographic comic strip (fotonovela) illustrating its weekly theme. Its newsroom suffered a terrorist attack on September 20, 1977. One staff member was killed and seventeen others wounded.

A monthly magazine specializing in fantasy and science fiction comics for adults. Published in Barcelona in 1978-1982 as a Spanish version of the original 1984 magazine published in the United States in 1978-1983. The Barcelona edition a started as Spanish language copy of the English language original but quickly shifted its editorial focus and began to publish more authors from Spain who were now able to express their creative freedom.

A selection of John Hay Library materials, including ephemera, covering the period leading to the Spanish Civil War to the Post-War period of the Franco Dictatorship Regime. The documents in this collection where created by or relate to neo-fascist organizations in Spain just prior to and after the death of Generalissimo Francisco Franco. The organizations include: Accion Social Corporativa Española (ASCE), Alianza Nacional, Frente Nacional, Fuerza Nueva, Fuerza Nacional del Trabajo, Falangistas Espanolas de las JONS, Union Nacional and many others. It is comprised of approximately 175+ photographs, most color, 55 in large format (17.5 x 23.5 cm), the rest approximately 10 x 15 cm, some with captions on the verso identifying places and dates; 150+ documents includes serials, pamphlets, small flyers, broadsides, posters, correspondence, and 20 pieces of ephemera from France, Italy, Germany, United Kingdom, United States of America.
